Scott Hylands, best known for his role on the police drama series “Night Heat,” has died. He was 83.

“I am heartbroken to share the news that my Dad Scott has passed away Wednesday night,” Hylands’ son, Luke, wrote on Instagram over the weekend.

Luke said he and his family “are still trying to process this horrible loss.”

“There simply are not enough words I can say about you right now,” he continued of the Canadian actor, whom he called his “forever hero and best friend.”

Luke added, “Always and forever. I love you. Goodbye Dad. xo.”

At the start of his post, Luke called Hylands “Husband, Father, Actor, Director, Writer, Storyteller, Friend, and lover of life.”

Luke also shared multiple photos of Hylands alone and with his family members.

Hylands was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia in October 2021, according to the Toronto Sun.

A GoFundMe was organized by Hylands’ wife, Veronica, to help the actor during his health battle, the Toronto Sun reported at the time.

Veronica told the outlet Hylands’ diagnosis was “overwhelming” for their family, and noted that he wasn’t made of money.

“There are no residuals,” she explained. “I’m sure people will wonder, ‘You don’t have the money?” and yes, his show was successful, but that was 30 years ago. He still works for a living at his age.”

Veronica added, “We don’t live high off the hog.”

Hylands played seasoned detective Kevin “O.B.” O’Brien in “Night Heat,” which aired on CTV in Canada and CBS in the U.S. from 1985 to 1989.

The series also starred Jeff Wincott, Allan Royal, Sean McCann, Eugene Clark and Susan Hogan.
