Gabrielle Union was certainly ready to bring it on at the 2026 Met Gala.
In fact, the Cheaper by the Dozen actress instantly changed the atmosphere when she and husband Dwyane Wade took to the steps at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art for the May 4 Costume Institute benefit. And the NBA legend had a specific idea about his role for the night.
“It’s my job to never be in a way,” Dwyane exclusively told Zuri Hall during Live From E!: Met Gala 2026. “She’s the star.”
“She’s the north star when it comes to this carpet thing,” he added. “So it’s my job just to compliment and get out the way.”
And Gabrielle was certainly shining for the night’s “Fashion Is Art” dress code, donning a brown, sheer Michael Kors gown, which she told E! featured 170,000 crystals and took “500 man hours” to complete.
The 53-year-old finished off her outfit with a diamond Tiffany & Co. necklace for the “Costume Art”-themed gala, which was co-chaired by Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and Anna Wintour. (See all the celebrities at the Met Gala here.)
