Don Lemon and sexy Smurf joke make for bizarre scene, and more items from the column

A Hamptonite was surprised when a stranger made a (literally) off-color joke while grabbing a sweet treat in Sag Harbor — and even more surprised when the stranger turned out to be standing next to a famed journalist. A source tells us that while waiting in line at Big Olaf Ice Cream shop, another customer walked out of the store with a blue mouth from frosting — and a guy in line made a crack about the customer having ended up in that state by performing a sex act on a Smurf. While we hear the joke made everyone in the queue laugh, the messy man barely took notice of it, because he noticed who the jokester was standing by. “Wait, are you Don Lemon?,” said the blue fella. Indeed he was. Lemon was surprised when we called him about the incident, insisting he didn’t make the joke and telling us, “I didn’t realize Smurfs were a protected class.”

LIL Wayne is not horsing around. Page Six recently reported that the rap superstar is part of a horse racing syndicate with fellow emcee Lil Yachy, and that one of their stable ran in the Belmont Stakes. Now we hear that Run Fast Racing – which also includes Adam Kluger, music mogul Adam Kluge, Puerto Rican superstar Rauw Alejandro and horse man Glenn Sorgenstein – scored a big win when another of their ponies, Listenupshance, stormed home to capture Saturday’s $400,000 Grade 1 Bing Crosby Stakes at Del Mar in California by a nose. The Doug O’Neill-trained four-year-old, ridden by Emisael Jaramillo, punched his ticket to the Breeders’ Cup Sprint with the breakthrough victory. It’s another milestone for the group after Page Six previously revealed the syndicate made it’s Triple Crown debut in June with Belmont runner Vitruvian Man. Kluger’s $100-a-month ownership platform lets everyday fans share the ride — from owners’ box perks to race winnings — and has already paid out nearly $60,000 to members.

IT’S the Fu-gee-late… Habitually tardy Lauryn Hill lived up to her reputation on Sunday when she allegedly showed up three hours late to a pop-up she hosted at the Dover Street Market New York fashion mecca. We hear fans started lining up at 6 a.m. for the 4:30 p.m. meet-and-greet. But an insider claimed the “Everything is Everything” singer was only 90 minutes late, and more than made up for it by staying an extra two hours to sign exclusive merch made for DSM. “She was in a great mood. Fans were crying, and someone brought their guitar for her to sign. She was a real class act,” they said, adding, “She was super cool with the kids.” Hill performed at Clubhouse in East Hampton the night before.

IT was a no-go for E! at the Hetrick-Martin Institute’s annual School’s Out benefit. We hear the network wanted to film the upcoming “Real Housewives of New York City” reboot the “Golden Life” at the event, but were told by the venue that they couldn’t roll the cameras. The stars stuck around anyway, so Luann de Lesseps, Kelly Bensimon, and Dorinda Medley were all on the scene, as well as Bravo star Andy Cohen. We hear performances by Lion Babe, Jamie Hannah, and a troupe of synchronized male aquatic acrobats kept the crowd entertained before Crystal Waters brought the house down. When technical issues prevented two of her backing tracks from playing, Waters instead performed her famed “Gypsy Woman (La Da Dee La Da Da)” three times in a row as guests sang along and refused to let her leave the stage. Also spotted were Tamron Hall, Rolonda Watts, Peter Som, and Isaac Boots. The event benefits LGBTQIA+ youth.
