Taron Egerton Details Estrangement From Dad David Egerton 

Taron Egerton is sharing a vulnerable glimpse into his personal life. 

The Rocketman star shared that he and his father David Egerton aren’t on speaking terms, noting that while they once maintained a “fairly functional relationship,” it later “became more difficult,” leading to their current estrangement. 

“I haven’t spoken to him for a number of years now,” Egerton admitted on the Aug. 10 episode of his Armchair Expert podcast. “I’m reluctant to talk in too much detail about him because he’s living his own life and doing his own thing.”

And while the Eddie the Eagle actor isn’t in communication with David, he emphasized he’ll “always” love his father. 

“I do love him. I just don’t think we work very well in terms of our relationship,” he noted. “There was a point where I pushed the ejector seat and haven’t seen him since.”

Even so, Taron understands his father better as he gains more life experience. 

“I am happier and more functional when I try and view everybody else as just trying their best,” he explained. “And with some people that’s really challenging. But I don’t find that challenging with my father.”
