Scottie Scheffler Houston Open Withdrawal Before Baby No. 2

Scottie’s sweet update comes just two weeks after he abruptly backed out of the Houston Open, per Golf Channel March 24.

Although the PGA Tour, which sponsors the event, didn’t share insight into why Scottie withdrew, the Golf Channel confirmed he did so as his wife Meredith prepares to give birth to their second baby.

The 29-year-old, dad to their son Bennett had been favored to win the Houston Open this year after finishing up as a runner-up the past three times he played. Though he’s previously fallen short in Houston, 2025 saw him walk away with two majors—the PGA Championship and the British Open—to join his pair of previous Masters wins.

But despite his many accolades, Scottie has often been vocal about the fact that winning is secondary to raising his family with Meredith.

“Every day when I wake up early to go put in the work, my wife thanks me for going out and working so hard,” he shared with reporters at the 2025 British Open, according to Sports Illustrated. “When I get home, I try and thank her every day for taking care of our son.”

“That’s why I talk about family being my priority because it really is,” he continued. “I’m blessed to be able to come out here and play golf, but if my golf ever started affecting my home life or it ever affected the relationship I have with my wife or my son, that’s going to be the last day that I play out here for a living.”
