Reese Witherspoon’s father back home after hospitalization
Reese Witherspoon’s dad, Dr. John Witherspoon, is back home after a two night hospital stay, Page Six has learned.
A source told Page Six that Witherspoon was released from the hospital on Sunday and that management at his luxury Nashville condo have asked residents not to blab.
On Friday, Reese’s father caused quite the scare at the building when he was found face down on the concrete near the building’s pool. A resident spotted him and alerted the doorman on duty, a source told us.
“The doorman and building manager rolled him over and they said, ‘Dr. Witherspoon, are you OK?’” they said. “He blinked his eyes, and that’s when he was rushed to the hospital.”
John, 84, and his wife, Mary Elizabeth (AKA Betty) raised Reese and her two brothers in Nashville. The retired otolaryngologist is known around his luxury condo complex for having a “vibrant and eccentric spirit,” we’re told. “He walks around in shorts and cowboy boots. He’s a real hoot,” a source said.
Nashville Metro confirmed a medical incident had occurred at John’s residential building on Friday, but did not reveal the identity of the patient.
Reese confirmed her dad’s fall on Friday evening, after Page Six exclusively reported he was taken to the hospital.
“Earlier today, several outlets reported that my dad was taken to the hospital after a fall. I want to let everyone know that he is fine now. He is being taken care of by wonderful doctors and nurses,” the “Legally Blonde” star wrote.
“Thank you to everyone who reached out. It means the world to our family,” she concluded.
A rep for Reese did not comment.
