Investigations led police to a property on Waterford Tamborine Road in Buccan, south of Brisbane, to conduct a welfare check about 3am on Monday.

The woman, who was employed as the man’s carer, was found dead on the back deck of the property with injuries to her body, police said.

A crime scene was declared, and forensic police remain at the scene.

Late Monday, a Queensland Police spokesperson said the man had been arrested in Kempsey, NSW.

“The man is expected to face court in NSW tomorrow and detectives from Logan District Criminal Investigation Branch and Homicide Investigation Unit will be travelling to New South Wales to speak to the man in relation to the matter,” the spokesperson said.
