Judy Greer recalled once being “so broke” that her “Wedding Planner” co-star Matthew McConaughey had to pay for her $20 valet bill.
“Before we started shooting, we did a table read, and we did it at the Roosevelt Hotel [in New York City], and I valeted my car,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “I didn’t know any better.”
Realizing she “didn’t have enough money” to pay the fee, she made her way to a payphone in the lobby to ask her friend Sean Gunn for some financial assistance.
Luckily for her, McConaughey was there to offer his assistance. .
“Matthew McConaughey overheard me and gave me $20,” she recalled, laughing. “I was so mortified, but also, like, ‘My hero.’ ”
The “13 Going on 30” star starred in the 2001 film as Penny alongside Jennifer Lopez and McConaughey.
Elsewhere in the interview, Greer couldn’t help but praise McConaughey as she reflected on their time working together.
“The thing I remember about that movie was how lovely [he] was. I loved seeing him in hair and makeup every morning, ’cause he had, like, pajamas on and a Yerba Mate,” Greer recalled.
“I haven’t worked with him since, but I have a feeling not much has changed.”
While looking back on the iconic rom-com as marks its 25th anniversary this year, Greer told the outlet she “didn’t understand what a big deal it would be.”
When asked if she would be open to a reboot of the classic, Greer explained that while she feels the original film still holds up after all this time, she would be open to revisiting the film.
“Yes, because I love it, and I think it’d be fun to see what people do with it, but also, like, it’s great,” Greer told Entertainment Tonight. “Why do we have to keep rebooting everything?”
Nevertheless, she added that she would say yes “as long as I get to be in it.”
