Kamolwan Chanago is smiling through it—literally.
After the Miss Grand Thailand contestant went viral when her fake teeth accidentally slipped out during the preliminary round of the pageant, she playfully nodded toward the moment again.
As she introduced herself during the contest’s finals March 28, Kamolwan first kept her natural teeth before slipping on her flipper—or denture retainer—and playfully winking at the cameras.
The 18-year-old represented Pathum Thani, a Thailand province north of Bangkok, and competed among 77 contestants for the Miss Grand Thailand crown. The prize, however, was ultimately awarded to Pattama Jitsawat of Chonburi.
Nevertheless, Kamolwan became a worldwide phenomenon during the viral teeth-slipping moment at the contest’s preliminary round on March 25. In a livestream video from the round, Kamolwan began to have difficulty speaking before her flipper slipped out of place.
Despite the gaffe, Kamolwan maintained her poise finishing up her moment after turning away from the camera to readjust her fake teeth. She then went on to flash a toothy grin as she made her way off stage, with Miss Grand International Pageant organizers going on to laud her for handling the situation “with professionalism and composure.”
