For Lionel Richie, life as a grandfather is easy like Sunday morning.
A little over a week after his daughter Sofia Richie announced the arrival of her son Henry Cecil Grainge, the American Idol judge detailed how he feels about welcoming another new addition.
“The beautiful part about it is that the family keeps growing and my pride keeps popping out of my chest,” Lionel told USA Today in an interview shared on March 31. “But it’s wonderful. Everyone is happy, and that’s the part I love the most. Just watching everyone blossom.”
Joking about the name his four grandkids call him, the 76-year-old added, “Pop Pop is out there again. Isn’t that funny? I came here thinking I am Mr. Richie. Now I’m Papa Richie on American Idol.”
Sofia shared the news of baby Henry’s arrival alongside a glimpse of her and husband Elliot Grainge’s newborn with his big sister on March 25. The 27-year-old posted an up-close photo of her newborn son lying in the lap of their daughter Eloise, 23 months.
