Sydney coach Dean Cox spoke about his gun recruit and the return of Errol Gulden on Fox Footy.

Q: To the Swans fans out there looking tonight, what are you expecting that they’ll see different?

Cox: Off turnover, we want to change the way we play. So, the ability to try and put our weapons into positions that can damage a little bit more. We spent a lot of time over the summer doing that. And, you know, I think with a playing group, and, obviously, Charlie (Curnow) there, hopefully he can get on the end of it, but be a part of a really damaging forward line that work together for each other.

Q: You’ve now got basically all the magnets to pick from. How do you maximise that talent, particularly the big three: Errol Gulden, Chad Warner and Isaac Heeney?

Cox: That’s the part that we have to work our way through. Will they be on ball at all times? Errol spent a little bit more time on ball and ahead of the ball. He’s a phenomenal wingman, we can always use that. The one thing we want to make sure we do is to put him in the middle of the ground where his transition can really try and test opposition teams. And, yeah, Isaac and Chad are both weapons ahead of the ball.

Q: How has Charlie handled the build-up?

Cox: Ah, he’s OK. He was nervous at the start of the week. And no doubt he’ll have mixed emotions when he walks out here and when the game starts. So, we just need to make sure that he can settle. It’s not about him trying to kick a goal as quickly as he possibly can. It’s about when the ball comes in. If he can’t mark it, he’s got at least halve it, get it to ground, and chase, and put some pressure on. So he’ll control those sorts of moments, but, yeah, it is a big night, and he’s got big shoulders to carry it.
