Livigno: American skier Lindsey Vonn has crashed out of the women’s downhill skiing at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympics, nine days after rupturing her ACL.
The 41-year-old former Olympic champion defied science, and expectations, to start in the event at all, but a horrific fall 13 seconds into Sunday’s medal event has ended her hopes of another Olympic medal.

Vonn hit the snow hard, lying motionless after clipping a flag and crashing out in the first section of the course, as medical staff rushed to assist.
Teammate Breezy Johnson – who is the competition leader – had her head in her hands, while American fans and coaches shared horrified looks as they watched on.
A helicopter is currently arriving at the course to airlift Vonn out of the competition arena.
