Meghan Markle’s mom Doria marks milestone 70th birthday just days after daughter, Prince Harry’s UK return
Meghan Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, appeared to have a relaxing birthday apart from both her daughter and son-in-law, Prince Harry.
The social worker turned 70 years old on Wednesday, and was spotted in California. Ragland looked comfortable in a simple white t-shirt and pajama pants, with her hair up in a bun, in pics obtained by Page Six.
She pulled a few weeds on her property and collected her mail, as she took a casual walk outside.
Ragland celebrated her milestone birthday as Markle, Harry and their two children — Prince Archie, 7 and Princess Lilibet, 4 — moved back to the UK last week.
TMZ reported last month that Ragland — who’s maintained a close relationship with her grandchildren — plans to remain in California, as she’s active within her yoga community on the West Coast and isn’t ready to temporarily leave her life or friends behind.
Markle, 45, and Harry, 41, made the shocking decision to go back to his home country six years after they announced they were stepping away from their duties as “senior” members of the royal family and moving to the US, in a move dubbed “Megxit.”
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex quietly moved out of their $14 million Montecito, California, mansion where they’d been living since 2020 without much fanfare — and without ever fully integrating themselves into the wealthy community — their neighbors told the Daily Mail.
Page Six spoke to the couple’s Montecito neighbors last month, and one insider noted that they “couldn’t be more thrilled” with their decision to move back to the UK.
Another neighbor bluntly told us, “Good riddance!”
They added, “The town is exhausted by them, the entitlement and the never-ending drama.”
Meanwhile, we’re told Markle and Harry’s move is making their potential UK neighbors wary.
Royal commentator Kinsey Schofield exclusively told Page Six that the “chattering class” of the North Cotswolds — where Markle and Harry are reportedly house hunting — are “not overly excited.”
“The Cotswolds can be incredibly welcoming to high-profile people because there’s an unwritten agreement: ‘You don’t make a spectacle of yourself, and neither will we,” Schofield explained.
She added, “There’s a sense of, ‘Please don’t bring the circus here.’ These people are used to celebrities. Harry and Meghan are different because wherever they go, the headlines tend to follow.”
But Markle appears to be taking the chatter in stride. Her brand, As Ever, promoted their new sparkling wine on Instagram Tuesday with a pointed message.
“A new chapter to celebrate,” the company wrote on Instagram alongside two photos of the Reserve Brut bottle.
