Teen Mom’s Farrah Abraham Shares Why, When She Cut Off Parents

“I thought everyone was a family,” she continued, “but as I grew up, I just was like, ‘Well, we’re really not a family and we really are different.’ So, it was really rough.”

Plus, Farrah said she missed out on the opportunity to build a stronger bond with her dad.

“I really yearned to just have a relationship with my dad,” she explained. “My mom would never allow us to hang out or be around my dad without her. They were both traveling salespeople, so they were always traveling, always running around.”

Last year, Farrah detailed the “really bad mother wound” she had from her mom, who divorced her dad in 2010. 

“I had a really bad complex with my mom not being the mom that I needed,” she told E! News in October, explaining how therapy has helped her move forward. “That’s why you really don’t see anyone in my life of the past, because they did not serve something that I definitely need, which is a safe space.”

And despite Farrah’s strained connection to her parents, her dad has previously offered his support. Indeed, during his appearance on Secrets of Celebrity Sex Tapes last year, Michael said, “The last time I talked to her, I told her that I just want her to be happy and I want her to be safe.”
