‘RHOC’ alum Jeana Keough finishes radiation treatment as cancer battle continues
“The Real Housewives of Orange County” alum Jeana Keough finished her radiation treatment — but her tongue cancer battle is far from over.
Keough’s daughter, Kara Bosworth, gave the latest update on her mom’s health in a GoFundMe post on Thursday, revealing Keough is about to go through more struggles in her cancer treatment.
“We were informed that these next two weeks will be the roughest on her physically – as the chemo and radiation are compounding and her body will be at its weakest point,” Bosworth wrote.
Bosworth, 37, explained that Keough, 70, has radiation burns on the outer skin of her neck that are being treated with medicated cream, but the Bravolebrity is still feeling “wincing pain.”
Additionally, Bosworth said her mom is using a feeding tube and has stopped losing weight, which she called “a win.”
“We’re still trying to find a nausea treatment that might prevent the painful vomiting but haven’t found the perfect solution yet,” Bosworth added.
Bosworth noted that she left Orange County to go back to Florida, but her brother, Colton, is still there “caring for” Keough, while her older brother, Shane, and his wife, Francheska, are flying in this weekend to help out.
Keough had “another win” in her cancer battle, according to Bosworth, when she was able to take a sip of water.
“A very important task so she doesn’t lose her swallow function,” Bosworth shared. “The pain is excruciating and she refuses narcotics so it’s unfortunately a really tough challenge to accept.”
At the end of her message, Bosworth asked fans to pray that Keough completes chemotherapy, stops needs the feeding tube, no longer feels “pain,” and that he “continued immunotherapy works its magic and that cancer NEVER KNOWS THIS WOMAN AGAIN.”
Bosworth announced her mom’s cancer battle last month and created a GoFundMe page to help cover the costs of Keough’s treatment
As of Monday morning, the page has raised over $74,000.
Keough exclusively told Page Six that she noticed a sore on her tongue sometime last year, so she went to her dentist who “insisted” the sore was from her teeth “digging” into her tongue.
She was eventually referred to an ear, nose and throat (ENT) doctor, but she“couldn’t afford” the almost-$3,000 biopsy because the office didn’t accept her insurance.
Later on family vacation, Keough told Bosworth she didn’t want to eat spicy food because it would hurt her tongue, which prompted Bosworth to convince her mom to get a biopsy.
“That doctor took one look in my mouth and said, ‘That’s cancer,’” Keough told us. “A biopsy was done, and when I got the results back, it was confirmed.”
Keough has undergone two surgeries, including one to “remove lymph nodes,” but briefly had to pause treatment after doctors found a deep vein thrombosis (DVT) clot and infection in her leg
The reality star also lost her ability to speak.
