Five years after her Golden Globe-winning turn in “The Queen’s Gambit,” Anya Taylor-Joy is returning to the small screen.

She leads the newest Apple TV original, “Lucky,” which premieres on July 15.

Taylor-Joy is an executive producer on the project, which is based on Marissa Stapley’s 2021 novel of the same name. The series was created by Jonathan Tropper, who is also the creative mind behind Apple TV’s Emmy-nominee “Your Friends and Neighbors,” and produced by Reese Witherspoon’s Hello Sunshine.

“Lucky” follows the titular Lucky (Taylor-Joy), a tough and talented grifter “who left behind the life of crime she was raised in years ago.” Per Apple TV’s official synopsis of the show, Lucky “must now embrace her darker, criminal side one final time in a desperate attempt to escape her past.”

Annette Bening and Timothy Olyphant round out the main cast as a ruthless mob boss and Lucky’s father, respectively.

‘Lucky’ Apple TV release date and time

“Lucky” premieres Wednesday, July 15 with two episodes.

Apple TV has not officially confirmed a release time for episodes of “Lucky,” but the streamer will often release new episodes of original series the night before their listed premiere date. In the case of “Lucky,” you’ll likely be able to stream new episodes as early as 9:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday nights going forward.

How to watch ‘Lucky’ for free

“Lucky” is airing exclusively on Apple TV, so you’ll need a subscription to watch the show.

Apple TV offers a seven-day free trial for users, so you’ll be able to watch two weeks of doubleheaders before $12.99/month payments kick in.

Amazon Prime members can also subscribe to Apple TV directly through Prime Video. It costs the same monthly price and also includes a seven-day free trial, but allows you to stream Apple’s content inside the Prime Video app.
