Police respond to shooting near Chris Brown’s Los Angeles home

Authorities responded to a shooting near the home of Chris Brown in Los Angeles — and the suspect is already in custody.

An LAPD Media Relations officer told Page Six that Friday around 4:11 p.m., West Valley Division Los Angeles Police Department officers responded to a radio call for an incident in Tarzana for a potential “shooting that had just occurred.”

The “victim and the suspect became involved in a dispute,” during which the suspect allegedly “produced a CO2-style handgun and fired at the victim,” according to LAPD.

The suspect was “apprehended by responding officers” and subsequently arrested for assault with a deadly weapon, not a firearm. Bail was set at $50,000.00.

Sources told Page Six on Saturday that the “Loyal” hitmaker was not involved.

TMZ was the first to report the news.

According to sources for the outlet, the caller was a woman who described the alleged suspect as a black male, around 35 years of age. She alleged that he fired the weapon at her vehicle.

Sources told the outlet that law enforcement interviewed both the alleged suspect and victim, and claimed the male suspect told them an argument broke out after the woman refused to leave.

The suspect claimed he fired shots at the woman’s vehicle after she allegedly drove over his foot.

Law enforcement sources told the outlet that the man was taken into custody at the scene and subsequently arrested for vandalism and assault with a deadly weapon.

Officials noted to the outlet that the incident went down on the street outside the singer’s residence — not inside the house or on the Grammy winner’s property.

It’s unclear if Brown was in the home at the time of the incident.

A rep for Brown did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment on Saturday.

Though Brown wasn’t involved, he’s faced plenty of legal drama in the past — the “Under the Influence” singer was arrested in May 2025 in Manchester, England over allegations he hit music producer Abe Diaw with a tequila bottle at a London nightclub in 2023.

He was charged with one count of grievous bodily harm and eventually released on bail. Brown pleaded not guilty to the charges in June 2025 and the matter is set for trial in October 2026.

Diaw, meanwhile, sued over the incident — though in June 2025, Brown reached a settlement with Diaw, who subsequently dropped his $16 million civil lawsuit.

Brown is also embroiled in a lawsuit with former housekeeper Maria Avila, who sued the R&B star in 2021 over an alleged dog attack on her sister in 2020.

The case is set to go to trial June 15, and Brown — who was accused by ex Rihanna of domestic violence in 2009 — has recently filed to block any mention of the incident during the proceedings, according to the Daily Mail.
