NFL reporter Crissy Froyd celebrates Dianna Russini resignation

NFL reporter Crissy Froyd celebrated Dianna Russini‘s resignation from the Athletic after the journalist was seen spending time with married coach Mike Vrabel at an Arizona resort.

“I’m sure you were told to submit this or that you’d get fired instead. Don’t let the door hit you on the way out,” Froyd tweeted Tuesday alongside Russini’s resignation letter.

“We know who you really are and what you’ve been up to for years,” she claimed. “It does so much detriment to women in sports who have done things the right way.”

Froyd then doubled down on her remarks about Russini, telling the Daily Caller that Russini “deserves” to have been called out.

“All of us do know what she’s been up to,” she alleged. “From fights with other reporters in Chili’s parking lots about hooking up with married NFL coaches to everything else, it is almost certainly all true. It was the worst kept secret in the NFL reporting world for a while.”

The reporter also claimed she “declined” the opportunity for Russini to act as her mentor at one point, due to her alleged “track record.”

Page Six has reached out to Froyd and Russini for comment but did not immediately hear back.

On Tuesday, Russini, 43, resigned from her role as Senior NFL Insider at the Athletic after Page Six published exclusive photos of her at a luxury resort in Sedona, Arizona, with Vrabel.

In the snaps, the reporter and the New England Patriots head coach — who are both married to other people — were seen hugging and intertwining fingers.

At one point, the pair also lounged poolside and took a dip in the water.

Both Vrabel, 50, and Russini denied that the outing was anything romantic in statements to Page Six.

“The photos don’t represent the group of six people who were hanging out during the day. Like most journalists in the NFL, reporters interact with sources away from stadiums and other venues,” Russini said.

Vrabel told us: “These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable. This doesn’t deserve any further response.”

Last week, Page Six exclusively reported that Russini was sidelined by the New York Times last week.

While some have celebrated Russini’s downfall, sportscaster Michelle Beadle sent a scathing warning to “female sportspeople” who were criticizing the mom of two.

“What I find interesting is the number of female sportspeople who have felt very comfortable in getting out there and blasting specifically her,” Beadle, who is part of the San Antonio Spurs broadcast team, said on her “Beadle & Decker” podcast Monday.

“Ladies, at some point, I will write a book. And the more I see you yapping out there about all this high and mighty, self-righteous, I know a lot about a lot of you,” she added. “So be careful.”

Beadle also said she believes “misogyny” is playing a role in how Russini is being treated in this scandal.

“She’s got her job on the line. He’s not — he doesn’t have his job on the line,” she explained. “I don’t know why this is affecting jobs. I really don’t.”

Mike has been married to Jen Vrabel since 1999. They share two kids: sons Tyler and Carter.

Meanwhile, Russini wed Kevin Goldschmidt in September 2020. She and the Shake Shack executive are parents to sons Michael and Joey.
