Amy Duggar slammed her cousin Joseph Duggar’s weird compliment to his wife, Kendra, after their jail calls were leaked.
“You hear this? He called his wife ‘competent’ and she took it as a compliment,” Amy, 39, said in a Thursday TikTok video.
“Um, last time I checked, marriage isn’t a performance review and she’s not your employee. And she’s not filing paperwork, so what the crap is that?”
“But I think that’s what happens when the bar is set so low. It’s so sad that it seems like she will accept any breadcrumb that comes her way and that means that she’s probably been starving for a very long time,” Amy, who also condemned her cousin’s arrest in another social media video, continued.
Several jail calls between Joseph and his wife were published following his child molestation arrest on March 18.
In one of the recorded phone calls obtained by Page Six, the “19 Kids and Counting” alum bragged to Kendra that he was keeping in shape while behind bars with a vigorous workout routine.
“I’m doing my burn bootcamp-style workout,” he said with a laugh. “I’m in a 7 by 11 style [cell], figured I might as well do something. Squats, push-ups, dips off the edge of the bed. … I’ve been doing all that kind of stuff.”
He further revealed that he’s “trying not to eat junk” and is focusing on “veggies and proteins.”
“Hopefully I’ll trim up in the process,” he joked, as Kendra said with a laugh, “Oh yeah I’m trimming up, I think. I haven’t gotten on the scale. But I’m feeling a lot trimmer now!”
Joseph was originally booked into the Washington County Jail in Arkansas before he was transferred to the Bay County Jail in Florida, where he was accused of molesting a 9-year-old girl.
He was released from jail on March 31 after he posted his $600,000 bail and pleaded not guilty to charges of lewd and lascivious behavior involving a victim younger than the age of 12 and lewd and lascivious behavior conducted by a person 18 or older.
It was reported on Saturday that Joseph was able to post his bail thanks to some help from his wife, Kendra, who turned their home into a rental property and sold many of their personal belongings to scrape the cash together.
Kendra was also arrested in Arkansas on March 20. Both she and her husband were hit with four counts of endangering the welfare of a minor and four counts of false imprisonment.
The mother of four was released from the Washington County Jail hours after the arrest.
