Sebastian Lletget is still the reason why Becky G is singing in the shower.
Three years after the pro soccer player apologized amid allegations he cheated on the “Mayores” hitmaker, she shared how the pair were able to continue their romantic relationship.
“I think removing myself from the relationship,” Becky (born Rebbeca Marie Gomez) told Alex Cooper on the April 1 episode of Call Her Daddy. “And in a way that was about not just self-preservation. Obviously, I was distraught and broken in a lot of ways, but I think it was more like removing myself from the context of anyone I’ve ever had to be something to.”
Noting how the pair had to go through a “conscious uncoupling” in order to build a “new baseline” of trust, Becky revealed that embarking on her new chapter with Sebastian, 33, was emotionally taxing but ultimately rewarding.
“I think that whole like, ‘It’ll never be the same again,’ something about that was actually exciting,” she explained. “Like, ‘Oh, there can be something new, and it’s like, ‘Oh, I’m not the same version of myself that I was when I was 19 when you first met me. You are not the same person that you were at [23] when I first met you.’ It’s just this earned wisdom I guess you can say.”
