WrestleMania Brings Back John Cena After Retirement

John Cena is returning to the ring—just not in the way his fans are used to.

Nearly two years after confirming his retirement from World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), the 48-year-old confirmed he will host the two-day WrestleMania 42 event in Las Vegas April 18.

“Ah, retired life in the sun,” John teased in a March 30 video shared to X, taken on set. “I’m kidding—check out the backdrop. I’m shooting a movie for Netflix called One Attempt Remaining that you can see when it comes out.”

But the former wrestling star—who spent 20 years as an active competitor in the WWE—teased that he’s “also on the road.”

“Which is ironic,” John teased. “Because there’s a road to WrestleMania going on—and Hollywood is really close to Vegas. Rumor around this town is WrestleMania needs a host. Well, I’m already on that road.”

While doing his signature ‘You can’t see me’ taunt by waving his hand in front of his face, he added, “I will see you at WrestleMania.”
