The reason Tiger Woods doesn’t hire a driver revealed after DUI arrest

Tiger Woods has refused to hire a driver over the years due to privacy concerns, according to a new report.

The athlete “doesn’t want anyone to watch over him or know what he is doing,” a source explained to People on Sunday, two days after Woods’ latest DUI arrest.

The insider added that the 50-year-old “thinks he is fine to drive.”

Woods’ rep did not immediately respond to Page Six’s request for comment.

The professional golfer was charged with driving under the influence after a rollover car crash in his Land Rover SUV in Jupiter Island, Fla., Friday.

He was released from jail later that same day.

Woods was last arrested in 2017 after being found asleep at the wheel with his engine running.

His DUI charge was reduced to reckless driving in a plea deal, with Woods attributing his behavior to an “unexpected reaction to prescribed medications.”

“I understand the severity of what I did and take full responsibility for my actions,” he wrote in a statement at the time. “I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved.”

In February 2021, Woods survived a near-fatal car crash in California while going over 80 mph in a 45 mph zone.

In addition to undergoing emergency surgery and months of rehab, he went under the knife multiple times in subsequent years to treat ankle and back pain.

Woods’ other headline-making crash took place back in 2009 when he hit a fire hydrant in a neighbor’s yard.

As for Friday’s crash, Woods attempted to pass a pressure cleaner truck and clipped the vehicle’s trailer.

The golf champion, who is dating Vanessa Trump, was alone at the time of the accident.

Woods’ “disappointed” and “pissed” partner, whom he went public with in March 2025, is reportedly “not happy at all.”

“He has to get things under control, or she’s not going to stick around,” People reported over the weekend of the 48-year-old’s fierce ultimatum.

Vanessa has posted to Instagram since the accident, notably making no mention the scandal.
