Several other metro locations are also hosting fireworks throughout the evening.

In the northern suburbs, Mindarie Marina will host fireworks at about 8.30pm, alongside live entertainment and dining at the marina.

Across the water, Rottnest Island will stage a family fireworks display over Thomson Bay at the same time.

Further south, Mandurah will hold two fireworks displays over the estuary, with shows at 9pm and again at midnight.

Similarly, in Rockingham, fireworks are planned for 9pm near the foreshore, followed by a midnight display.

Private events will also be holding fireworks across the city.

Claremont Showgrounds will host fireworks just before midnight as part of a New Year’s Eve festival, while Gloucester Park in East Perth and Canning Waters near Applecross are both expected to hold fireworks at midnight.

Outside the metro area, regional celebrations include fireworks at Kalgoorlie-Boulder at about 8.30pm, and Albany’s Hanover Bay with displays at 9pm and midnight.

The City of Perth and local councils have urged revellers to plan ahead, expect road closures around major event sites and use public transport where possible.
