Quakers Hill stabbing: Two dead, man arrested

A Sydney man allegedly stabbed his former partner to death in her home and left her new partner critically wounded on the footpath before dumping a knife at a petrol station and handing himself into police.

Emergency services were called to a home on Illabo Street, Quakers Hill, just before 5am on Sunday following reports of a disturbance.

They found a man on the footpath who had suffered stab wounds. A woman in her 30s was found dead in the kitchen having suffered multiple stab wounds.

The injured man was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition but died about 9am.

A 47-year-old man was arrested on arrival at Blacktown Police Station around 5.30am on Sunday. He is cooperating with investigators, Superintendent Jason Joyce from Riverstone Police Area Command said.

Both victims were aged in their 30s and are yet to be formally identified. Investigators believe they were in a relationship, and the male in custody was previous in a relationship with the female.

“At this stage, it would appear to be a domestic violence incident,” Joyce said.

The 47-year-old was previously known to police.

Crime scenes have been established at the home of the suspect, Liverpool Hospital, the Quakers Hill home, and a petrol station nearby where a knife – believed to be the murder weapon – was found.
