Talented filly heads to Wagga to try and break her maiden

Form Warwick Farm trainer Bjorn Baker will chase some better than average prizemoney at Wagga on Wednesday when he sends talented filly Pyrolysis down to try and break her maiden.

Baker has produced Pyrolysis at the races four times, and she’s been placed in each of them. He is keen on more success at the $50,000 Inglis Xtra Bonus Series Super Maiden Handicap (1000m) at Wagga. The three-year-old, ridden by Jeff Penza, is by Zoustar and out of the mare, Princess Wildfire.

“She’s a quality filly and very well-bred,” Baker said. “She’s a Darby Racing horse and I’ve had a lot of success for Darby and I’m hopeful Pyrolysis can score an overdue win at Wagga.

“She had a couple of starts in June and July and was placed at Gosford and then at Warwick Farm. She looked good winning trials before resuming with a second at Canterbury behind Ernaux when she led and went down narrowly.

“Then she backed that up with another second at Gosford behind a handy one in Sequista. The prizemoney is good at Wagga, it’s a good incentive to head there with her.“

Baker will send a travelling companion with Pyrolysis to Wagga in the shape of One Run Won, which will be ridden by Olivia Chambers in the Sheathers Painting & Decorating Class 1 Handicap (1200m).

One Run Won had won two trials before debuting with a fourth at Kembla Grange when beaten by only 1.5 lengths. The son of Exceed And Excel then went to Orange to break his maiden by in excess of four lengths as a $1.30 favourite just over two weeks ago.

“One Run Won is another talented three-year-old that ran well on debut and lived up to our expectations winning at Orange at start two,” Baker said.

“He’s stepping up to Class 1 company at Wagga and I’m sure he has the ability to go on with the job.“

The feature event at Wagga’s Christmas Eve meeting is the $40,000 Murrumbidgee Turf Club Ted Ryder Cup (1600m), which features the Danielle Seib last start winner Associate.
