The pop star and politician contrast is not unfamiliar to Trudeau.
His father, another former prime minister of Canada, Pierre Elliott Trudeau, was linked to celebrities including Barbra Streisand and Kim Cattrall. The elder Trudeau was prime minister from 1968-79, and from 1980-84.
Rumours of a potential romantic relationship between Perry and Justin Trudeau began this summer, when TMZ reported that the two had dinner in late July at Le Violon in Montreal. Neither did much to tamp down the speculation.
Days after the dinner, Trudeau was seen singing and dancing at Perry’s concert in Montreal. They have also been photographed on a yacht and while holding hands in Paris.
Trudeau seemed to refer to Perry with his Halloween costume, a giant shark that shared a striking resemblance to Left Shark, a costumed dancer who became famous at Perry’s Super Bowl half-time performance in 2015 because of his goofy dancing.
Perry and Trudeau have not commented on their relationship. Their representatives could not immediately be reached for comment on Sunday.
