A 17-year-old stands charged with three offences linked to an alleged brawl at a house party in an affluent north Brisbane suburb on the weekend.

The party, held on Friday night, ended with a 16-year-old admitted to hospital for what officers described as a “serious wound” to his back.

Between 9pm and 10pm on Friday, officers arrived at the Oriel Road home in Clayfield – the same suburb where Universal founder Greg Josephson was fatally wounded during a house party earlier this year.

Police said they first broke up a “large group of juveniles” on nearby Brooke Street, before finding a 16-year-old Eaton’s Hill boy suffering a serious back wound at the Oriel Road home.

The wound, described as a large laceration, was treated by paramedics before the boy was taken to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a stable condition, about 10.30pm.

A 17-year-old Salisbury boy, who officers had suspected caused the injury, allegedly fled the scene before emergency services arrived.

Officers suspected the two boys had been in a physical fight in the lead up to the wounding.

On Tuesday, the 17-year-old was charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm, going armed to cause fear and assault occasioning bodily harm in company.

Investigations were continuing on Tuesday, and police urged anyone with relevant information or CCTV footage of Oriel Road or the surrounding area at the time of the incident to come forward.
