Sydney man dead after suspected hit-and-run incident at Richmond

A 23-year-old man has died and a 41-year-old man has been taken to hospital as police investigate whether the discovery of a ute found crashed in a nearby paddock is linked to a suspected hit-and-run nearby.

The younger man was found on the side of Old Kurrajong Road at Richmond, in Sydney’s north-west, about 7.45pm on Sunday.

A passing motorist tried to assist until paramedics arrived, but the man died at the scene.

Crash investigators determined the man had been struck by a vehicle which failed to stop.

About an hour later, a Nissan Navara was found in a paddock off Kurmond Road at nearby North Richmond after leaving the road and rolling several times.

Police have appealed for information including dashcam footage from the area.
