14 fans rushed to the hospital at Chainsmokers’ California concert, second incident in weeks
The Chainsmokers’ concert Friday turned into a chaotic scene when more than a dozen people were hospitalized.
The San Jose Fire Department shared on X Saturday that they responded at 8:22 p.m. on Sept. 4 to an outdoor concert at Discovery Meadow for reports of “multiple patients requiring medical attention.”
The Chainsmokers’ show took place at the urban park in downtown San Jose that night.
“SJFD immediately requested an Ambulance Task Force, two additional advanced life support fire units, and a Battalion Chief to manage the incident and provide additional medical resources,” the department shared. “A total of 14 ambulances responded, and 14 patients were transported to local hospitals.”
ABC7 reported that police told them that 10 people had to go to the hospital, many of them because of alcohol or drugs.
The condition of the concert-goers is unknown and the Chainsmokers have yet to comment.
The EDM duo — consisting of members Alex Pall and Drew Taggart — did post concert footage Sunday on Instagram, though made no mention of the incident.
Page Six reached out to the Chainsmokers’ rep for comment, but didn’t receive an immediate response back.
This isn’t the only recent Chainsmokers show that ended up with multiple fans having to go to the hospital.
At their set last month at Splash House’s “After Hours” event at the Palm Springs Air Museum, seven people were rushed to the emergency room after a fight broke out and bottles were hurled into the crowd, TMZ reported.
Police told the outlet that a total of nine people were injured, with some getting cut by broken glass.
The Chainsmokers aren’t the only artists who have been experiencing emergencies at recent shows. Country music legend Garth Brooks put on a secret show Sept. 3 at a Denver, Colorado, venue under the name “Yukon Jack,” which attracted more than 2,000 fans. Per TMZ, more than 25 people required medical attention during the performance, reportedly from the 90+ degree heat.
